Race Notes - 2007 Stampede Run 5K

The popular STAMPEDE RUN 5K was held in Fultondale on 06-16 with a crowd of over 200 runners taking part. This was great considering that there was another race in Hoover for $5/person. Sammy’s race is like a High School class reunion with a lot of the great runners from year’s back. I saw faces I haven’t seen in years. Past BTC President, Tom Osterbar always plans his yearly trip to Birmingham to coincide with this race so that he can participate in the huge door prize presentation out of the bed of a pick-up truck. If you stay around long enough you will walk away with something other than the hat all the runners get instead of a t-shirt. The field was strong as usual with the TRAK SHAK walking away with the men’s top 3 trophys – Scott Strand – 15:48, Louis Viamonte – 17:23 and Nick Cutchens in 17:40. Louis’ wife, Sarah Viamonte finished 1st in the Female division by running 20:37, 2nd was Natalie Lockhart in 20:52 and 3rd was Carol Prichard in 21:15. The 1st Master was Jeff Clark in 18:22 and the 1st Female Master was Carol Prichard.
