Vulcan Run 2014 -- Training

Train with the BTC for the Vulcan Run 10K! 

Couch to 10K training for Vulcan Run began on Monday August 25th. The deadline to sign up for a 2014 Vulcan Run Training Plan is August 30, 2014.

There is a training plan for everyone -- from the true beginner to the competitive runner. These training plans are FREE to members of the BTC(but you do have to be a member!). Not a member? You can easily join the BTC HERE.

Mercedes Marathon Training

Join us at 6 a.m. every Saturday morning at the Trak Shak in Homewood for free group training supported by the Trak Shak and the Birmingham Track Club. Runners and walkers of all skill levels are welcome. This group is led by Coach Natalie Ferguson with veteran coaches Al Dimicco and Jeff Martinez assisting.

A beginner-level 20 week marathon and 19 week half marathon training schedule is provided with room to build in cross training, speed work, tempo or hills to fit your skill level. We recommend that you be able to complete a 5k or can run 10 miles per week to begin the half marathon training and that you can complete a 10K, or run 15 miles per week to begin the marathon training.

Water and Powerade are provided every 2-3 miles by volunteers. Follow the group and receive weekly invitations here. Email NatalieZL@hotmail.com or Jeff@trakshak.com with any questions.

RunSmart : RunSafe

To help educate and remind all runners to run safe, the RRCA is embarking on a yearlong, public-safety, awareness campaign starting with the launch of the Run Smart : Run Safe animated video developed by Space Chimp Media. 

 

 


Tuesday Night Trails (2014)

The long, cold, dark winter Tuesdays without hope or the sense of adventure we crave are over. Beginning next Tuesday, March 11th at 6 pm (sign in at 5:30), Alabama Outdoors begins their third season of group trail runs at Red Mountain Park on Tuesday evenings.
