BTC Saturday Long Run Training Group for Marathons and Half Marathons
The BTC Long Run Group is a group of runners that began training together in 2006. Each year they pick a goal Marathon/Half Marathon in the fall and train together. Saturday morning routes and water stops are coordinated by the BTC with members dropping water along the route. Paces range from 8:00 to 12:00. Distances for Saturday morning runs range from 8 to 22 miles. This is not a group for beginners. The BTC Long Run Group is an open group. Marla Gruber heads up the weekly runs. BTC Saturday Morning Moderate Distance Run
Birmingham Track Club organized Saturday morning moderate distance run (3.5 – 7 miles typically) for new runners wanting to increase their distances or existing runners wanting a group to run with but not interested in longer mileage. Birmingham Running and Training Society (BRATS)
BRATS is a running group in Birmingham, Alabama with just over 525 coed members who run early most mornings from several venues in the Homewood, Mountain Brook and Birmingham areas. We are a very diverse group, who share a major common bond – the love of running, major league fun, nutrition and friendships built through training together. Weekday runs range from 5-10 miles and weekend runs with the BTC range from 10-22 miles, generally training for 1/2 marathon, marathon and ultra marathons. Paces range from 7:30-10 min/mile. This is not a run group for beginners.

Black Girls Run
Black Girls Run! is a National Organization with a local Chapter. They have over 3,000 members with all paces and levels from the beginner walker to ultramarathon runners. There is no fee to join and they are always accepting new female members.

Black People Run Bike and Swim
It is so important to move! Black People Run Bike And Swim is not an “exclusion”, it is an “awareness” of the reality in which education, exposure, and disparities affect us in ways that are at times not recognized or understood. Cadence Group Run
This group meets at Brookwood Mall O’Henry’s Coffee at 430am on weekdays to run the Lakeshore Trail and 5am or 6am on weekends. Distances range from 5-10 miles for most runners. You can also find a range of paces being run (many on the fast end of the spectrum). Contact Cary Morgan on Facebook.
Downtown Running Club
DRC meets Saturday mornings at 10:00 am in front of Paramount Bar (200 20th Street North). The regular route is 4 miles and goes to Oak Hill Cemetery, then Ingram Park, then Railroad Park and back to Paramount. Fleet Feet Birmingham
Join us every Tuesday night at 6:00pm for a 3 to 5 mile run. All paces are welcome and encouraged to join!
We are located across the parking lot from Lifetime Fitness. To start, we meet in front of Lifetime Fitness (to the right of their front door) and the run will begin from there. The run will finish at Fleet Feet. http://www.fleetfeetbirmingham.com/training
Monday Runday Birmingham
We meet at Moes BBQ in Lakeview at 6 p.m. on Mondays for running (varied paces of 2,4 or 6 miles). Drink specials all night for runners. The first Monday of every month is Birthday Monday with cake for everyone. Some Mondays will have themes (jorts, beach attire, holidays, special water stops, etc.). Everyone is welcomed and encouraged regardless of experience, pace or anything else! We want Monday Runday to be a happy, accepting place for everyone. The Resolute Running Training Center hosts a weekly run at 5:30 a.m. on Thursdays. All are welcome to attend. To keep the run interesting and fun, various routes and starting locations are used throughout Homewood, Mountain Brook, and Birmingham. The distances range from 5 to 8 miles, with a wide variety of paces. Expect a great run and a lot of laughs.

Run4FunBHM is a local group of about 40 runners who enjoy training and running together. They are “serious recreational” runners with paces ranging from 8:00 to 11:00.
They meet weekdays at 5 am on Petticoat Lane in Mountain Brook Village near Village Sportswear.
Weekday runs are 4-6 miles and weekends are longer from different locations around Birmingham.
They also do a recovery run on Sunday morning at 6 am from National Bank of Commerce by the entrance to Jemison Trail.

Run University offers group runs every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. from Life Time Fitness in Vestavia. Each run has a 2, 3, or 4 mile option and in the summer months (longer days) we have a 5th mile available.
There’s also Thursday night group runs at 6 p.m. as well as Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. These 2 have rotating start points & a variety of distances (depending on whether or not most of the group is training for a specific event).
For morning runners there’s a group run from Village Sportswear in Mountain Brook, M/Tu/W/Th at 5:00 a.m The M/W/Th runs are 4 miles and Tuesday is a fuzz over 5.
At our group runs we encourage all paces and abilities – the goal is to make friends while getting healthier. These runs are free and open to all.

Tuesday Night Trails
Whether you simply think running trails would be fun, are just starting to get into trails, or are an experienced veteran ready to tackle the Western States 100, you are welcome and encouraged to join us every Tuesday evening from Spring to Fall (daylight permitting) at Red Mountain Park. We meet in the cul-de-sac and hit the trails from there with groups designed to meet every level of experience and pace. The Advanced group typically runs a sub-8:00 pace, Intermediate Fast is between 8:30 – 9:30 pace, Intermediate Slow runs 9:30 – 10:30 pace, and the Fun Group usually is at 10:00 +. Distances vary by group and available daylight and every group has a leader and a sweep so everyone can feel comfortable. Sign in is at 5:45 p.m. and the runs start at 6:00 pm.
Birmingham Ultra Trail Society (BUTS)
BUTS is a group designed to promote and facilitate the growth of the trail running community in Birmingham. BUTS is open to anyone who believes in happy trails and wants to be a part of one of the South’s best trail communities. BUTS organizes informal group runs on many of the local trails, including Red Mountain, Ruffner Mountain, and Oak Mountain.
